Take Me Out to the Ballgame

I'm coming up on 20,000 photos in my iPhoto library now, and some of them are actually pretty good, if I do say so myself. So, I'm going to try to start putting up some albums with my better pictures in them. Here's a set from a Padres home game we went to in 2005. (They lost.)

Nice shots!! I really like the one of the mascot a lot! :) Cracks me up.

Looks like your nice long lens has a similar problem to mine, where the contrast gets a little flat when you zoom all the way in? Plus, I'm sure the lighting at baseball games isn't always the best.

Have you played with the auto-horizon leveling toys in PS? There's a fun, easy way to correct for camera tilt. I use it all of the time. Evidently my right arm is taller than my left.

Thanks! You're right about the lighting. It wasn't the best, but the image stabilization in the lens let me take longer exposures, which you can clearly see in some of the action shots.

As for Photoshop tools, I am a total raw noob at using it on, well, actual photos. Everything you see in my gallery is straight from the camera to you. Any good recommendations on where to start learning to make my pictures look better? I'm already pretty good at making them look messed up and badly-processed, which I have chosen not to share with the world. :)
